Donald Trump was found guilty on May 30 of 34 counts of falsifying business records, all of which occurred while he was the sitting president of the United States. Chair Pavel Žáček (ODS) of the security committee of the lower house of Parliament told Czech TV on May 31 that the verdict in that criminal case is important because of the way Trump casts doubt on the U.S. judicial system. This carries over into Czech politics, Žáček said, because we also have people who question and politicize everything, including the courts, the political processes and sometimes elections. We mention this now because PM Petr Fiala said in MFD today that it's important to understand that Motoristé aren't the ones who succeeded in the EU elections, but rather Robert Šlachta's Přísaha, with his entire past history. Fiala was thereby casting doubt on Šlachta's police raids in mid-2013 that brought down the ODS-led government. Fiala's U.S. role model is usually Joe Biden, but for a change he was mimicking Trump.
