Síkelaspeak, the arrogant and garbled language of Industry Min. Jozef Síkela (STAN), wouldn't be worth trying to decipher if energy weren't now the most important topic in Czech business and politics. As it is, thousands of businesses are trying to figure out what Síkela's intentions are. When he stated on Sept. 25 that capped energy prices probably wouldn't apply to 100% of household consumption, his words were unusually clear, but he said that they were taken out of context. After the EU energy ministers decided on Fri. that capped prices could apply to 100% of the energy use of small and midsize businesses, Síkela said that this might not be the case in the CR after all. And then last night he said in passing that he has secured enough energy for the public sector and public services, which would be headline-grabbing news if true. Liberec Gov. Martin Půta of STAN gave Síkela until the end of Sept. to put up or shut up in terms of his energy promises. It's already Oct. [ Czech Republic regional governor MFD Mladá fronta minister ]
