Andrej Babiš timed it so that just after Petr Fiala gets back from his vacation in Croatian paradise, he'll get hit with a summons to defend his government against a no-confidence vote. Fiala can avoid the televised exercise in Parliament if he agrees to remove STAN Chair Vít Rakušan as interior ministry, but that seems unlikely. Instead, Fiala and Rakušan will have to rally the coalition troops to raise their hands for the way Rakušan has handled the DP Praha/STAN scandal. That alone would be hard enough, but the no-confidence vote will also come just as voters are returning from their own vacations and are faced with sharply higher energy costs. This will put the spotlight on another STAN representative, Industry Min. Jozef Síkela, and on his edicts as energy czar. Unless the ruling coalition falls apart, it's impossible for Fiala to lose the no-confidence vote. The question instead is how many coalition MPs will find it impossible to put their head on the block for Rakušan and Síkela. [ Czech Republic ANO ODS DPP ]
