In Sept. 2006, Justice Min. Jiří Pospíšil said that it would benefit the Supreme Court if Iva Brožová resigned as chief justice but that he would not pressure anyone. The following year he filed disciplinary action against her, and a year later he recommended disciplinary action against her husband, lawyer Jaroslav Brož. Brožová survived until Jan. 2015, when Chief Justice Pavel Rychetský of the Constitutional Court reportedly helped negotiate her resignation as part of a reshuffling that, if Pres. Miloš Zeman had not changed his mind, would have seen Chief Justice Josef Baxa of the Supreme Administrative Court succeed Rychetský. The person who caused him to change his mind was Marie Benešová, who is now criticized as justice minister for threatening to take disciplinary action against Supreme State Prosecutor Pavel Zeman. Rychetský told Václav Moravec of ČT yesterday that never in the CR had one top official threatened another with disciplinary action. Rychetský is strategically forgetful.
