Donald Trump declared in his inaugural address: "We do not seek to impose our way of life on others." Perhaps the Prague embassy will take this as guidance for discontinuing its fake fight against corruption. Why fake? Because the embassy has an inherent conflict of interest. Its two biggest partners in the public sector for fighting corruption are PM Bohuslav Sobotka of ČSSD and First Vice PM Andrej Babiš of ANO, yet these two also represent the political entities most responsible for the CR's 10-notch decline in Transparency Int.'s corruption index, from No. 37 to No. 47. ČSSD has David Rath and its myriad EU subsidy scandals; ANO has Stork's Nest and its plethora of conflicts of interest. Andrew Schapiro boasted before leaving Prague that in every way you can measure U.S.-Czech cooperation - security issues, Russian sanctions, trade, fighting ISIL - the results are great results. No mention of corruption, because that wasn't ever really a priority. [Czech Republic ambassador United States]
