The weekend Czech news was full of reports about how Andrej Babiš spilled the beans on the air about a police investigation into the Kč 1.2bn arbitration won by Škoda Transportation against Czech Railways. Babiš's newspapers have been suggesting for months that the arbitration was rigged, and Babiš blames it on lawyer Radek Pokorný, who is both vice chair of the Arbitration Court and Škoda's lawyer. What Babiš wasn't supposed to know is that the ÚOOZ police unit is investigating the matter. Martin Veselovský of DVTV had a wonderful chance last Wed. to delve into this, but he cut Babiš off when he wanted to talk about it. "Much more interesting for me," Veselovský told Babiš, "is how you plan to rework the coalition agreement." Now that Zdeněk Bakala is no longer a real player in Czech business and politics, the honest thing for him to do would be to turn Economia directly over to Pokorný so that everyone understood how the system works.
