Final Word from Wednesday, May 4, 2016
One of the advantages of the independent media is the ability to ask questions in print that are being posed only in private, questions that are too politically loaded to be addressed by the oligarchal media. So we ask a question on the lips of many people: How much does a Supreme Court justice cost? ČSSD is confident the Court will uphold its unprecedented decision to ignore the final ruling in the Zdeněk Altner case. Chief Justice Josef Baxa of the Supreme Administrative Court told Dvojka that final court rulings must be respected and that excuses cannot be tolerated. What can ČSSD offer to convince a few Supreme Court justices to throw caution and legality to the wind? Theoretically, ČSSD has Kč 330m to work with. Some of the justices would also like to cap their career with a term on the Constitutional Court. Pity for ČSSD, because this carrot is in the hands of Miloš Zeman, not Bohuslav Sobotka, Radek Pokorný and Miroslav Bělina. [Czech Republic Lidový dům Czech Radio lawyer]
