Final Word from Thursday, February 25, 2016
Big business has often been likened to Communism, so it's not so off the mark for the SSČR entrepreneurs' party to compare today, Feb. 25, 2016, to the Communist takeover on this day in 1948. Communism led to the destruction of private business in favor of monolithic state enterprises, and the invoice-matching returns due today for the first time are a further nail in the coffin of many small businesses. The hundreds of thousands of honest ones must devote hours and hours to red tape that creates no value for society, merely so that a few rotten apples can be picked out. This is one of the biggest abuses of state authority that the free world has ever known, and it shows that Czech society is still very much dominated by Communist-era thinking. Big companies - esp. Agrofert - aren't bothered much, because they know that invoice-matching will help them become even bigger, which is presumably the chief aim of the law to begin with.
