When the EU finally imposes a coordinated immigration policy for dealing with refugees, and it is only a matter of time, it will likely be largely because of pressure from Germany. Its activists want policy changes from a humanitarian point of view, and its government will tire of taking in one-third of Europe's asylum-seekers. A new STEM poll shows that Czechs are less tolerant than ever of foreigners, and this is reflected in the government's standoffish approach. This, too, will eventually have to change, and much of the younger generation will loudly applaud an overhaul of EU immigration policy. When it finally comes, parts of Europe will undergo one of the quickest ethnic peace-time transformations in the history of the world. Many older Czechs will lament the loss of their nation-state, but many younger ones won't, because the post-Communist elite have seen to it that the Czech state is, for most, no longer worth fighting for.
