If Václav Moravec left Rádio Impuls because a politician, Andrej Babiš, bought the station, he would become about the tenth journalist or commentator to depart as a result of Babiš's media-buying spree. Already in this category are such well-known figures as Bohumil Doležal, Daniel Kaiser, Tomáš Němeček, Martin Weiss and Lenka Zlámalová. The departure of Robert Čásenský as editor-in-chief of MFD was also at least partly a result of Babiš's purchase of Mafra. John le Carré said that while researching his latest book, A Delicate Truth, he made a point of asking a number of ex-ambassadors if there is anything that would make them turn against the system, anything that would have made them resign, and in every case, he said, the answer was that the retired diplomat could not envisage a situation in which he would resign on principle. Are Czech journalists more righteous, or do they merely have more possible employers than a diplomat? We'll learn more as Czech journalists increasingly run out of places to take exile.
