Final Word from Thursday, June 20, 2013
Miroslav Kalousek, whose intoxication on Czech Radio became a national sensation two weeks ago, returned to the scene of the crime yesterday and seemed to be drunk on bile as he commented on the nomination of Miroslava Němcová as ODS's candidate for PM. He told ČRo1 that he greatly respects Němcová and would be honored to serve in her cabinet but that ODS was creating the huge new problem of having to fill her current post of speaker of the House. Instead of rejoicing, he was a real party pooper. In an up-to-the-minute analysis, Petr Honzejk of HN (here we will praise him) said it seems that TOP 09 was upset that Němcová was such a good choice for PM that it would be hard for TOP to push instead for early elections. As TOP continues to look at its options, yesterday's radio appearance serves as a warning: Kalousek is much more endearing when drunk on booze than when drunk on bile.[Czech Republic drunkenness Hospodářské noviny prime minister alcohol]
