Final Word from Tuesday, November 20, 2012
Senior Prague State Prosecutor Lenka Bradáčová has acquired the nickname "Cattani in a skirt," after an inspector in an Italian crime show who fights against the Sicilian mafia. Bradáčková's enthronement as an anti-corruption savior has largely been acknowledged so far by politicians and the media, with the exception of some malcontents in an around ODS. Presidential candidate Tomio Okamura made himself another exception over the weekend, when he linked Bradáčová to the dark side by saying that she hails from Northern Bohemia, which he said is renowned for its "mafia rottenness." This was a bit unstatesmanlike from a presidential candidate, but it serves fair warning to Bradáčová that her every move is being watched. If, for example, Roman Janoušek avoids going to prison for his traffic accident, the blame will fall squarely on Bradáčová, even if she isn't directly responsible for the case.[Czech Republic elections car]
