After PM Petr Fiala fired Ivan Bartoš as development minister on Sept. 24., the Pirates started lashing out at ODS. Fiala responded that they were acting like small children. After U.S. Pres. Joe Biden reportedly gave Ukraine permission to use long-range missiles to hit targets in Russia, one of Fiala's remaining coalition partners, Speaker of the House Markéta Pekarová Adamová of TOP 09, lashed out at Russia on Czech TV, saying that it could end the war or escalation at any time and only understands force. She stressed that she welcomed Biden's decision and that Russia sees any questioning of such decisions as a weakness. What Pekarová didn't say is what the decision of the U.S. president means for Czechs in terms of national security, energy security, defense preparedness and a possible new wave of immigrants. If Fiala didn't have a double standard, he would have to say that Pekarová is acting like a small child. It's time for adults with real Czech interests in mind to take over.
