Final Word from Wednesday, November 4, 2020
A national leader must take into account all factors in a crisis, including security, safety, health, mental health, the economy, education and the future direction of the world. When Donald Trump said at a rally in late Oct. that every time you turn on the TV, it's "covid, covid, covid, covid, covid, covid, covid, covid, covid, covid," the U.S. media made fun of him, as did some Czech news outlets. The mainstream media didn't want to hear that New York City is a "ghost town" because of the lockdown, as Trump stated in his final debate with Joe Biden. They wanted to hear about Biden's opposing plan for using the reproduction rate to "shut down the virus, not the country." If Trump won yesterday's presidential election, or even if he only came close, it's because enough Americans believed that there is more to the covid crisis than putting "health first," to the detriment of all the other factors. As Europe locks itself down again, many of its own voters will wonder who their leaders are. [ Czech Republic United States of America elections reproductive ]
