As is often the case with institutions that have lost their way, the 13 Western embassiesthat promoted the Prague Pride event achieved the opposite of what they intended.Sure, they promoted gay rights, but more importantly they gave Václav Klausa platform for reentering party politics. If Czechs are allowed to choose their owndictator, many will opt for a small-minded, populist leader who opposes all forms ofpolitical correctness, esp. those coming from the putrid West. However, the real keyto understanding Klaus is found in the words of Mirek Topolánek. He told LN thatKlaus plays 28 chess games at once and chooses the one that is most favorable at agiven moment. By this logic, founding a political party after leaving office is only onepossibility, but a very real one. So is the possibility that, once the world really startsgoing to hell, Klaus will use his existing office to become the next Czech dictator.
