The Greens have enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame, and that might be all they get. Hospodářské noviny, which has been providing the best post-election coverage, suggested today that a minority government of ODS and KDU-ČSL supported by ČSSD is in the works. This would be a variation on the ODS-ČSSD-KDU broad coalition that we've mentioned and would achieve the same result: Eliminating the Greens from the decision-making process. Think about it. Why would ODS and ČSSD allow a newcomer to carve out a place for itself, when the goal all along has been to strengthen the role of the two major parties? KDU-ČSL is a different matter, because it knows how the system works and is a willing participant. The Greens, though, are troublemakers who have been taking sides with Václav Havel and talking about making real changes in Czech politics. This can't be tolerated.
