The attacks in London yesterday are shining the spotlight on Interior Minister Frantiąek Bublan. Právo suggested that Bublan might be too soft for the job he's in or might be tougher than he pretends to be. Bublan responded that he truly is a very normal guy. When it comes to cases like the botched raid of Radovan Krejčíř's house, Bublan's averageness seems to suit the government. No one expects much from him - journalists joke that he's always the last to know what's going on - so no one is surprised when, after three weeks, he can't say how much money was seized in the raid. Pretty soon, everyone will forget about it. The terrorism issue isn't going away, though, and the question is whether the CR can afford to have a 'normal guy' in charge of security. Just imagine if the London rescue squads had responded to yesterday's bomb attacks the way Bublan handled the Krejčíř raid. [Czech Republic terrorists United Kindom England]
