Everyone, it seems, has an explanation for why Václav Klaus spoke out so loudly against "Fahrenheit 9/11." One reader said Klaus was taking advantage of the vacuum left by George W. Bush and John Kerry, who have avoided commenting on the film. Another reader said Klaus was currying favor with Bush and was using his LN article to go out of his way not to gloat about being right about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. Klaus himself warned in LN against the oversimplification of the world situation that Michael Moore's film promotes, and some readers took this as Klaus' primary message. Perhaps, but would this have caused Klaus to nearly leave the theater twice, as he stated in LN? Several years ago Klaus criticized the classic Czech film "Marečku, podejte mi pero."
