Final Word from Friday, April 30, 2004
Interior Minister Stanislav Gross wants to legalize and regulate prostitution. This would allow the minister with the cherubic face and saintly demeanor to kill three birds with one stone. First, he'd make honest entrepreneurs out of those tax-evading hussies. Second, he'd legitimize his relationship with a woman who owns a building where a house of ill repute is located. The CR's international obligations now call for punishing anyone who runs a cathouse. And third, the minister wouldn't have to worry about getting caught again by the media while shooting up the town with his friend Jaroslav Tvrdík. If Saint Stanislav were caught with his pants down, so to speak, he could plead innocent and wouldn't have to go to court to defend his good name. He could say he was keeping the cabinet's longstanding promise to support small businesspeople.
