Premier Vladimír Špidla said last night that the CR has stood the test of the destructive floods. But what comes next, he said, won't be easy. President Václav Havel said last week in the Financial Times that with the flood has come an overwhelming degree of solidarity. Numerous companies and individuals have rallied to help. The U.S. embassy and the American Chamber of Commerce said after inspecting the affected areas that blowers/dehumidifiers, high-pressure cleaners, disinfectants, gamma globulin and hepatitis A inoculations are in short supply. The embassy said a shipment of medicine, vaccinations and other supplies and equipment will be airlifted from the U.S. in the next few days. Many people and companies are donating money, but what those with wet walls say they're missing most are industrial blowers.
